The story behind ‘Out of Control’
Kizzy Star had been holed up in a Glasgow studio for 18 months writing and recording. The band completed a national tour supporting Sharleen Spiteri which included venues such as Glasgow’s O2 Academy and the Hammersmith Apollo in London. The single picked up airplay on Jim Gellatly’s ‘Music Bed’ show (Radio Scotland) and Billy Sloan’s Clyde 1 show.
Despite only playing a handful of dates prior to the tour the band had already achieved a number of landmarks:
• Main stage performance at Live at Loch Lomond
• Featured in Jim Gellatly’s XFM Top 10 for 2008
• Headline slot in King Tuts
• Daily Record feature
• Featured on US compilation ‘Power Pop Overthrow’
Songwriter & vocal talent Tony McGovern was a Flowers legend due to his stint in classic lost Glasgow band The Smiles. Tony has also spent a few years writing and performing popular songs with a certain well known Scottish combo…
2009 saw the band about to unleash a series of incendiary anthems.
‘Out Of Control’ was their debut single. Corridors was an outstanding b side.

Press
“Texas star Tony McGovern provides impressive vocals on this great single which sounds a bit like Joy Division. It hit me right away with its jagged energy. Kizzy supported Sharleen Spiteri on tour and they are a band to look out for.”
Sunday Mail
“This is solid, confident and very listenable stuff.”
Daily Record
“An energetic concoction of deep, angry vocals and catchy tunes. With real power and hidden depth, this is potentially a great release from the band… With notes of the Killers and White Lies, Kizzy Star are a modern and popular act to grace Glasgow’s music scene.”
